A Comparison of Supernatural Folklore Si Bunian Gunung Lalo West Sumatra with Orang Bunian Riau

Abstract

Supernatural folklore spread in every region of Indonesia is very much. The purpose of this study is to describe the local folklore of the Sumatran people about Si Bunian Gunung Lalo in Dharmasraya and Orang Bunian Riau.In addition, a comparison between the two supernatural folklores will be described. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis. The data source used in this research is taking information on Kompasiana with the title Si Bunian Gunung Lalo and Orang Bunian Riau. The results of this study show that there are some similarities and differences in the folklore of Si Bunian Gunung Lalo and Orang Bunian Riau. In addition, there are also traditional values, among others: (1) the importance of Sumatran people's knowledge of the real and unreal worlds; (2) the cultivation of belief values held by Sumatran people; and (3) the importance of the role of family as the foundation of early education to understand everything. This research also shows that these folktales have valuable traditional values in the lives of Sumatran people
