COMPARISON OF CULTURAL VALUES IN FOLKLORE BATU MENANGIS AND ASAL MULA NEGERI LUMPUR

Abstract

The purpose of this research activity is to compare the folktales of Batu Menangis from West Kalimantan Province and Asal Mula Negeri Lumpur from Jambi Province. In addition, researchers also examine and describe the cultural values contained in the two folktales. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method using content analysis technique. Based on the results of the analysis, although the content of the story is almost the same, there are also differences in the story seen from the characters, naming characters, characterization of characters and setting. As for the comparison of cultural values in the two stories, among others, there are cultural values in human relations with God, cultural values in human relations with nature, cultural values in human relations with humans, and cultural values in human relations with themselves.
