MORAL VALUES IN THE FOLKLORE OF THE LEGEND OF GUNUNG PINANG AND THE FOLKLORE OF THE LEGEND OF BATU BUJANG LENGONG: A COMPARATIVE LITERATURE STUDY

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the moral values in the folklore of the legend of Gunung Pinang and the folklore of the legend of Batu Bujang Lengong. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with comparative literature technique and analyzes the content of folklore from both subjects, namely the folklore of Gunung Pinang legend from Banten and the folklore of Batu Bujang Lengong legend from Alahan Panjang, Gumanti Valley Solok. Content analysis is a research technique that draws conclusions from literary works. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that both folktales contain important moral values, such as the value of divinity, courage, perseverance, caring for others, respect for others, and moral messages not to disobey parents. This shows that the folktales of Gunung Pinang and Batu Bujang Lengong have a significant role in conveying moral messages that can be used as guidelines in everyday life.
