FOLKLORE LEGEND OF THE ORIGIN OF REGIONAL NAMES BATU BUSUAK WITH BATU GADANG

Abstract

This research article aims to describe the comparison of folklore legends of the origin of the regional name Batu Busuak in Koto Tuo Limau Manis District Pauh with Batu Gadang District Lubuk Kilangan Padang City West Sumatra. This research is a descriptive qualitative research on the folklore of the legend of Batu Busuak in Koto Tuo Limau Manis District Pauh with Batu Gadang Lubuk Kilangan District Padang City. Data were collected through two stages. The first stage is recording the folklore legends from the informants who have been determined. The second stage, after recording the folklore, collected data on the storytelling environment using recording, observation and interview techniques. To analyze the data is done in four stages: (1) matching data with the results of data transcription and transliteration; (2) analyzing data (3) discussing research findings; and (4) writing research reports. The results of this study are as follows, namely, first the structure of the folklore of the Batu Busuak legend in Koto Tuo Limau Manis District Pauh with Batu Gadang District Lubuk Kilangan Padang City consists of (a) language style, (b) characters and characterizations, (c) setting (d) plot, (e) theme (f) mandate, has the same pattern and structure. Based on the results of the interview, the same thing was found about the social function for the collective owner of each of the two folklore legends, which both stated that the two folklore legends have social functions to (a) educate, (b) pass on, (c) as the identity of the collective owner of this oral tradition.
